Agreeable people are trusting, straightforward, altruistic and self-effacing. The agreeable individual is upfront and genuine and believes that other people are honest and well-intentioned. They are interested in and show concern for other people's welfare, ideas, views and emotional needs. They tend to be modest and compliant and like to avoid interpersonal conflict.

At the other end of the continuum are people who are hard-headed, wary, egotistical, and competitive. These individuals tend to be skeptical of other people's intentions, they are prepared to manipulate and flatter people to get their way, and they fight for their own interests. They tend to compete rather than cooperate and modesty/humility is not one of their assets.

The OCEAN questionnaire will measure where you lie on the Agreeableness continuum and assess the implications for how you interact with and work with friends and work colleagues. It is important to note that neither side of this dimension is intrinsically better from society's or the individual's perspective.
